The rim is engineered with a NACA rim profile that's 40mm deep and 26mm wide, designed specifically for all-rounder performance on flat or hilly terrain. The rim bed shape makes it easier than ever to fit tubeless and tube-type tyres.

Riding UST Tubeless means no tube, so no friction, and more air volume means a smoother ride. The result is a faster ride with super low rolling resistance. Refined spokes make this wheelset 80g lighter than its predecessor, the Cosmic Pro Carbon UST. Combined with our all-new Infinity hub platform, which makes them feel quick and responsive out of every corner, they are stiffer and more efficient.

The Cosmic SL 40 is engineered specifically for rim brakes. Mavic's proven iTgMax technology features a patented laser treatment of the brake track that shortens stopping distance in both dry and wet conditions, while a special lay-up and heat treatment process makes it the strongest and most durable of all carbon rims for rim brakes.

These wheels are designed, engineered and patented by Mavic in Annecy, France, and are 100% handmade in their European carbon factory.

Technologies

Instant Drive 360 technology

Super light and efficient. The large contactless rubber seal provides low friction, while a wide array of end caps makes it super versatile.

Isopulse lacing design

Optimum energy transfer. The spokes are laced radially on the drive side and crossed 2 on the non drive side to maximise drive side dish, thus providing a better spoke tension balance between left and right flanges.

UST tubeless technology

Traction and control. The UST concept improves traction, control and comfort whilst reducing inertia and flats

iTgMAX carbon clincher technology

Integral Glass Transition Temperature. Consists in an inner rim bed finished with multiple layers of seamless carbon fibre to achieve a unique one-piece rim contour without cutting any fibres. The brake track is finished with a laser machine to ensure the best braking efficiency.

Infinity Hub Design

An ultra reliable, high performance hub. Efficient power transfer thanks to the optimised non-contact spoke lacing and tension distribution. The length of the spokes are identical on the front and rear.

QRM Auto bearing preload technology

Qualite de Roulements Mavic Auto. Cartridge bearings are double sealed with e3 internal clearance. Preload is automatically adjusted to guarantee a perfect spin with no play on the long run.
